FEES & FINANCIAL POLICIES

We believe that mental health services are a crucial investment in more fully becoming the person you were created to be. RWPS strives to offer effective, high quality services infused with a Catholic vision of the human person to help you enjoy the joy and freedom of being a son or daughter of God.

Our Fees

At RWPS, the first appointment is a 90-minute interview aimed at building a relationship with you, clarifying the nature of your struggles, and exploring how we might work together to assist you. Subsequent sessions are 45-50 minutes in length, unless alternate arrangements are made. Our fees for these appointments are as follows (the fees quoted here are subject to change):

Doctoral-level providers (Drs. Sodergren, Dowdell, & Murphy):

· Initial appointment (90 minutes): $340

· Subsequent sessions (45-50 minutes): $170

Masters-level providers (Alex Wallace, MA, LPCC):

· Initial appointment (90 minutes): $290

· Subsequent sessions (45-50 minutes): $145

Group therapy sessions are 90 minutes and the fee is $110 for all providers.

Insurance

In order to remain focused on serving the whole person, to provide better care and to help maintain the privacy of our patients, RWPS does not participate in any insurance plans, including Medicare or Medicaid. However, patients with out-of-network coverage can choose to submit their own claims to potentially help offset the cost of services. Please see below for information about this “Self-claim” option.

Payment Options

There are four main options for paying for our services: Self-Pay, Self-Claim, Sponsorship, and the RWPS Charitable Grant Program.

Self-Pay

Cash and check are our preferred forms of payment. We do accept bank cards (credit, debit, HSA) of various kinds. However, we are a nonprofit ministry and paying with cash or check helps us save enormous money on bank fees

Self-Claim

Even though we do not directly participate in insurance plans, some patients elect to submit their own claims to their health insurance company for our services as an “out-of-network” provider. We can provide only limited assistance in this process. For example, we can provide you with  statements (called “Superbills” or “Flexible Spending Statements”) that list all of the information insurance companies typically need to process a claim. These statements become available a few days after our services are rendered. It is your responsibility to send these statements to the claims department of your insurance company for processing. NOTE: Regardless of whether your insurance company reimburses you, our fees are still your responsibility and payment is due in full at the time of service. Our policy is that the patient first pays Ruah Woods, and any reimbursement from the insurance company goes directly back to the patient.

Sponsorship

Some of our patients have been successful at finding others to help pay for their psychological services. In some cases family members, friends, businesses, or church-related organizations pay part or all of the fees. We encourage you to discern whether there may be sources of financial help that could partner with you and us in helping you become your best self.

RWPS Charitable Grant

For those who cannot otherwise afford our services, Ruah Woods is pleased to offer a Charitable Grant Program. These monetary Grants are given to a portion of qualifying RWPS patients and are used each session to offset the standard fees, effectively reducing the estimated costs listed above. In other words, once a per-session Grant amount is approved, it will be deducted from the standard fee for each session with the patient being responsible for the remainder. For example, if a patient seeing a doctoral-level provider for standard-length individual psychotherapy sessions (fee = $170) is approved for a Charitable Grant of $80 per session, his/her remaining fee would be $90 ($170 – $80 = $90). The remaining fee is always the patient’s responsibility and is due at the time of service.

We have limited budget for Charitable Grants, and individuals interested in receiving a Grant must complete a brief application and provide verification of family size and current income. The amount of the Grant is subject to approval and varies depending on the needs of the individual and the availability of funds. Please let us know if you have questions about our Charitable Grant Program or would like to apply.
